Who are we?

The Mississippi Society of Washington, DC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the best interests of our state in our nation’s capital. Founded in 1892, the Mississippi Society is the second oldest active state society in Washington.

Active members include Governor Haley Barbour, the Mississippi Congressional Delegation and their staff members, active and retired military, federal agency and professional association staff members, attorneys, lobbyists, businessmen, college students and folks who have settled inside the Beltway from Mississippi.

Annual membership dues are $30 per person or $50 per couple and may be paid through the website or through the mail. The Mississippi Society meets several times per year for social and philanthropic functions. The society’s flagship event is Mississippi on the Mall, which is an annual event held in June.

The Mississippi Society is a member of the National Conference of State Societies.
